Hi there,
My husband, our one-year old and myself are looking to relocate to Cedar Grove, NJ in Essex county. We have been looking for houses for over a month. Yesterday we found our dream house that we really love. The only draw back is that it is on a major road with what seems like a lot of traffic. RT-23, Pompton Ave. Does anyone have any experience living on a major thorough fair like this one. My main concerns are noise, safety and dirt. We currently live in Brooklyn on a major boulevard and are used to the noise but I'm not sure how it will compare.
RT 23 gets a lot of traffic; it's not just the main road through Cedar Grove but also for through traffic. There will be a lot of road noise.
I agree. I live in the area and travel this road at least once a day. It is extremely busy from about 7:00 a.m. until about 11:00pm, maybe a little less so on Sundays. I would never buy a house on that street, but to each his own.
I lived there for several years. Our apt was set back from the street, so noise wasn't much of an issue. The only time it was somewhat noisy was rush hour and I was rarely home at that time.
