Yup. But be happy. Our state income tax is STILL way lower than New York's.
Yep, I'm not really complaining, just curious. On a month to month basis, I now have an extra $40/month or so, which isn't huge, but it pretty much pays for my phone!
My office is moving back to the city in October, which means I'll effectively take a pay cut of more than $2K a year. The kicker is that I can SEE the effing building from my current office in Jersey City. One mile across the river will cost me all that money. I guess I should just be grateful that I had three years at Jersey tax rates.

I was in a situation like that decades ago and it was a big company that played by the books but I called up one of the oldest guys in the company and asked him if he thought there was anyway they could leave me as a NJ employee who reports to NY,,,,,nothing was said or done but it happened while others that moved with me wound up paying the tax.
Funny thing was several years later a person transferred to my office that said she was in charge of making sure all employees paid the right taxes to the right states,,,ha ha. Sometimes its luck and it was a big company,,,

Yeah, and I can see the Highlawn Pavilion in my town from my NYC office, and it doesn't reduce my commute or taxes one bit :-). I keep pushing for a Newark office and I keep hearing hysterical laughter from the executive washroom...

Yea, but if he is still working in NY, then he ends up paying NYS taxes (and gets credit from NJ). If he were in NYC, then he is saving city tax, but he will still pay almost the exact same State tax
