The light rail stops running around 12-1. Is there any other way to get to weehawken/ferry station area except by cab? Last time I took a cab it cost me $20 which is a lot for a short ride.

If you google Hoboken taxis, you will see the city has regulations on how much cabs picked up in Hoboken can charge to head to the rest of Hudson County.

My guess is, having cabbed it from Hoboken to DTJC many times, is that at $20 you were ripped off. Have the Hoboken taxi page ready on your phone. It's probably $10-15...closer to $10 if you're Uptown.

There really is no other way at that time...the 126 stops around the same time.

Well the guy said it was $18 flat rate. I was coming from the Johnny Rockets on Washington and he dropped me off by the port imperial light rail station.

You can take the path into the city and then a bus back to weekhawken. But I doubt it would be worth your time.
