Belmar, Asbury, or Long Branch is the best for a young person- maybe Red Bank but that would be north of both. All have restaurants and bars. The latter 3 do have some dicier spots so be careful.

Nope , not the Heights or in Spring Lake .Single and in your 30's then that is not the place for you .Check futher up into Neptune ,or into Manasquan or Wall .Yes renting for the summer maybe but to live and work year round ,nope you are way to young for that area .Your best bet ....Red Bank and just put up with the commute .

I lived in Ocean Township for a bit (the Wanamassa section). Good spot (safe, quiet, convenient to Target/Wegmans/Costco), but very family oriented. If I were looking to rent in Ocean Township, I would look in the West Allenhurst section (close to NJ Transit if you want to go to the city) or in Oakhurst closer to Monmouth University. You would more than likely be renting in a house compared to complexes. I would avoid Twinbrook, Continental Gardens, and Middlebrook.

Generally people go out in Asbury Park or Long Branch (you could live here, but it gets expensive in the safer sections). I would consider Bradley Beach (in between Asbury Park and Belmar, but a little quieter). I agree with the Manasquan and Red Bank recommendations.
