So I thought that I was going to get a job in northern NJ, but I ended up not getting it. But I fortunately was able to get one elsewhere. I have to travel between two offices, one in Brick and the other in Ocean. (Those are listed on the business addresses as cities, but I can only find "Brick Township" and "Ocean Township" on Google maps.) So I have to decide where to live (i.e., live in Ocean and commute to Brick or vice versa).
Some information about me. I'm single, in my 30s. I'd probably do better near a younger crowd, versus only families. However, if it's a choice between rowdy, drunken people or families, I'll take the families, lol. I guess optimally I'm looking for a place where there are more young, single professionals. I'm no foodie, but it would be nice to be relatively new at least a few places to eat (it looks like that probably won't be a problem, though). I'll be making upper-five figures, so probably only around middle-of-the-road on income? I'm probably looking to start out in an apartment only, so if you guys have suggestions that would be great.
Um, OK, I will, but is there any reason that area is good?
Because Spring lake/spring lake heights is equidistant between your two work locations. Really nice area (known as the Irish Riviera) you have plenty of dining options on 771 and easy access to bars like the Parker House and Bar A, along with Belmar stuff. 15 mins drive to Ocean and about the same to Brick. Nice beaches and a really easy-going vibe. Dunno what it would be like living there as a single person but you're also about a 15 min drive from Asbury Park, which has a much more lively bar/club scene.
I would maybe even suggest Belmar itself. Not overly expensive, more of a younger crowd than most of the surrounding area, and good commute to both of those places. One of the Monmouth shore towns is definitely your best bet, although some of them can get pretty expensive. Asbury has a great bar scene and lots of culture, but there's still safety/crime concerns there. There's also Long Branch which has a younger crowd and plenty of affordable rentals due to its proximity to Monmouth U.

Ah, OK, thanks, guys. That's more helpful. Is that area (shore) better compared to more inland areas because there's more to do? For example, what if I just lived literally in between Brick and Ocean, assuming there are any places in that area? The only reason I ask is because I'm not really a beach person, so if that was the reason you guys were recommending it I can do without it as an amenity. (Although there's nothing wrong with seeing women in bikinis during the summer, lol.)
I looked up some apartments in the area online and they seem to run around $1200 - $1500 for a 1BR. Does that sound about right? No offense to anyone, but those apartments seem sort of on the lower-end side of things, so I didn't know if I was checking out the "ghetto" area. I'm definitely into safety because I run outside early in the morning or late at night and so I'd be willing to pay more for a safer neighborhood, versus ducking bullets or worrying about getting mugged.
Bc I know the areas around there backwards and forwards. Based on your requirements, requests and parameters the apts in Spring Lake Heights is the best fit for you within a 60 mile radius

There is more to do in the shore areas for sure. Inland is more suburban neighborhoods, soccer momville. Stick to Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, Manasquan, and Sea Girt areas between rt 35 and rt 71. Theses areas are not only extremely safe but also has lots of restarants and stores. Close to the beach and close to more hot spots like Belmar, Asbury Park and Long Branch for fun but far enough away to avoid the rowdiness and crime. As you noticed you won't get much for $1200/ month for a 1 bedroom but there's a reason for that these areas are very desireable. Final bit of advice avoid Neptune, Neptune City, or any other areas that may come up in the apt search for Spring Lake Heights. As an added bonus it's literally right in the middle of both your offices.

OK, thanks for the heads up about the places in Neptune and Neptune City. Those did pop up in my online searches and I didn't know whether to consider them. I'll look into your apartment recommendations. Were those in order of how you would rate them, or just at random?
