Governor Christie buddies up with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in yesterday night's game versus the Eagles in Philadelphia. Cowboys blow lead, storm back to top Eagles - NFL.com

A bad move politically? South Jersey is home to many an Eagles fan who likely voted for Christie. And although the Eagles and Giants have a divisional rivalry, neither is as intense as each club's respective rivalry with the geographically misplaced, "Eastern Division" Dallas Cowboys. No true New Jerseyan could root for the Cowboys, could they?

Or a good move politically, forecasting Christie's intended departure from New Jersey in favor of national office? There are certainly more Republican voters in Texas than in New Jersey!

Christie has openly been a Cowboys fan for a while. And while the Cowboys are my team's rival, I'd rather him root for them than pretend to be a fan of another team.

NJ doesn't have a football team.

Not everyone loves NY or Philly teams, especially NY teams as they do their best to make sure NY gets credit and not NJ.

CC has always rooted for the Cowboys.

CC apparently didn't prostitiute himself as the fans would have liked. The same fans whose voting pattern follows their blind sporting team adoration. No thought involved.

The lack of tolerance by the media and NJ/Philly fans for anyone to root for a team other than who they ordain to be NJ's official team, is sad as it promotes intolerance that bleeds over to other issues. Families fear attending a game if their kid has a non compliant jersey. Nice atmosphere.

Its a game played by millionaires, who the heck cares who wins ..... unless you have money riding on the outcome?

This is a non-issue. Anyone who has a problem with him being a Cowboys fan and attending a game, no matter where it is, needs to get a life. For all we know he's been a fan since he was a little kid. He's allowed to like whatever teams he wants, and he frequently supports the Jets and Giants anyway by calling them the "New Jersey Giants/Jets" since they do play here.

I don't think there's anywhere a photo-op with Jerry Jones wins you votes.

Cowboys fans hate Jones even more than Eagles and Giants fans do.

At least he didn't pull a Hillary who said she's been a Yankee fan for years, prior running for the NY Senate.

Not sure Hillary even knows where the Bronx is.

She can probably only find her way to their rented Hamptons summer mansion.

I'm no Christie fan, not by any stretch of the imagination, but what a ridiculous story.
The fact that his sports allegiances could have any impact on his political career speaks more to the intellectual level of the voting populous than it does Christie.
The voting public gets exactly what it asks for in terms of its representation. You want to be lied to & treated like children.
Forget discussing complex, nuanced, layered social & economic issues. People can't handle the fact that he doesn't like the same team as them. Think about that for a second.

With the incredible number of valid points on which somebody could criticize our esteemed governor, I find it amazing that anyone could seize upon a team affiliation as a valid talking point for criticism. In the total scheme of things, this "issue" is about as trivial as can be.

Philly is proving it's classy as ever through all this. It's people that act like this, and its other lovely sports fans, that explains why 99% of the time I cannot stand this city.
