I'm going to be moving to New Jersey in August for a new job. I wanted to find some female Muslim roommates to share housing with, but have been unsuccessful thus far, both in finding an affordable apartment in a decent area (with some sort of social scene, I'm from a large city and am young and single) as well as finding roommates to live with. Any suggestions?
Where in NJ? What do you consider to be "affordable"?
As to finding female Muslim roommates, that's a relatively small slice of the renters out there and I'm not sure how you'd find them. Are the Muslim groups (professional or social) that might be able to help?

Find a neighborhood you like, go to the nearest mosque and post an ad on a bulletin board but yeh you are going to be extremely limited. You are talking about half of 1.8%, which is only about 80,000 people in the entire state.

Affordable meaning less than 1100 or so while still being in a lively, safe area.
Yeah, I realize I'm specifying a smaller population that may be possible, but just put that out there in the small chance that maybe someone out there is looking for the same thing!
If you want to meet people who are Muslim, you have to go where Muslim people go and network. So yeah, Islamic Centers, Mosque, etc would be a good place to start.
