I'm on my way to Jersey City by train. We are required to come in today and put work we need onto a flash drive for at home and then we can leave early.
This is so stupid because there is a good chance I will lose power and won't be able to work anyway. As a matter of fact, i'm hoping that the stove burners will throw sufficient heat to keep the cats and me alive for a couple of days. That's what I did in Sandy, but it was only November then.
The ride in this morning was not bad at all. Seems a lot of folks must have stayed home-it was about the same as when I'm working during the normal state/federal holidays (MLK Day, President's Day, etc...). Hopefully the lack of volume will make the ride home less grinding than usual.
Looks like the National Weather Service has knocked a few inches off the projected storm totals for Hudson/NYC/LI. Down from 20-30 inches in yesterday's warning to 18-24 inches in today's warning. Still a fair amount of snow.
I am worried. The trifecta combo of crazy amount of snow plus high winds plus extreme cold is so scary. If our house loses power, the cat and I have no warm place to go.
There is no snow accumulated on the ground as of yet. Just does not look like I am going to be sent home any time soon .
