Hello, I'm looking for an apartment in north New Jersey. My Craigslist search has led me to a few private homes in Kearny, Montclair, Jersey City Heights, Bayonne, and Carlstadt. Private homes are fine but they're hit or miss. I was hoping some of the lovely people here on the NJ forum could suggest some towns/cities or specific apartment complexes that meet the requirements below.

must have:
- at least 1 bedroom (no studios, not even a large one)
- no more than an hour drive during regular commuting hours to downtown Jersey City
- accessible to NYC transportation to midtown Manhattan during regular commuting hours
- safe
- no more than $1500/month
- laundry facility on site, in-unit washer/dryer, or washer/dryer connections
- street parking or parking space available
- garden-style apartments, complexes, etc. (no buildings)
would be nice:
- dishwasher
- 6-month lease available
- small office or extra bedroom
