The term is actually "Employment-At-Will". It simply means that unless there is a specific law or contract providing protection otherwise an employer can treat its employees as it sees fit.
That means the employer can fire an employee at the will
of the employer for any reason or no reason at all.
Is this what you really want in NJ?
For example, suppose you are the hardest worker in the crew and bring in the most money for your boss but he finds out you have been banging his daughter so he can fire you and he doesn't have to justify. That just doesn't seem fair.

Well, if you are stupid enough to bang the boss's daughter, you deserve to be fired.
But more to the point, I favor a system where anyone can be fired or quit at any time for any reason or for no reason.
Keeps everyone on their toes.
And yes, that's exactly what I want for New Jersey. Total employment freedom. A job is a relationship, not a right. And either party to the relationship should be free to sever the relationship at will for whatever reason, good or bad, smart or stupid, without interference from the State or anyone else.
Yes, we can all build silly cataclysmic scenarios of appalling injustice. But what will really happen is an improvement in the quality of employers and employees. Most employers are basically good. And so are most employees. Put that together with freedom and there will no longer be a reason to employ miscreants from abroad.
