Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a website where I can see the legal tints for cars in NJ.

I currently have mirror tint on all my windows and a grayscale on my windshield. It's illegal in FL to have your front 2 windows or your windshield tinted but they don't really bother us much here, unless you get pulled over for something else - but I'm sure i won't run across such generous police in NJ.

Thanks for anyone who can direct me to the right place.

You'll have problems with the front side windows and the windshield in NJ- how much of a problem depends on the town, the kind of car, and your actions.

Try a google search NJ law title 39:3-75 tinted windows. If its factory installed right out of the manufacturer and its light its legal. If its after market and dark its illegal in NJ. Now the problem is what is the POs determination of what is light or dark tint on your car if you are stopped. I don't do it anymore but a old general rule for the police is if they can't see you or barely can see you you will get a ticket. It goes with obstructed windshield which could be anything from a cracked windshield, to mud on yourwindshield, snow you get the picture. My advice is if you are going to live in Jersey is don't get it. The small town cops sometimes have plenty of time on their hands and you will be on the recieving end of a ticket. Sorry for the bad news.

You will not pass inspection in NJ and it is not illegal in fla to have your front windows tinted, as long as it is less than a 30% tint. it is illegal to tint the windshield.
Now for my question, when I am in NJ with my fla car with the front tinted windows am I illegal?

in NJ it is illegal to have any tint of any percentage on the front two windows or the windshield.

Some cops try to force you to rip the tints off right there and then when your stopped. I dont know if they are allowed to do that or not but I have 2 friends it happended to.
