I moved from Hamilton NJ to Greenville,Sc in 1994 and love it. I moved down at the same time as my parents, now all of my brothers and sisters and there families live here now. We all love it so much more than NJ, we never consider going back. Not only are there some good bagels but some really good pizza at a place ran by a family from NJ.

Well, we're the third party in this thread who live in Mooresville, NC (north of Charlotte). Our town is growing unbelievably fast lately and many of the newcomers are from NJ, NY, MI, and FL. Previous posters had it right; we have a great cost of living, a terrific climate, easy drives to the beaches and mountains, and of course my favorite....we are a one day drive from the cruise ship ports in Florida! Woo hoo! We have a theme park near Charlotte, Lake Norman for boating & fishing, and of course, we are Race City USA! (Nascar country). Heck, even Petty Enterprises just moved to Mooresville!

Iredell and Mooresville schools are both rated pretty well. Taxes are good too(about $1 tax per $100 value). There is lots to do in the city of Charlotte and its only a 20-30 minute drive.

Hey BobKovacs, we now have a wonderful NY style bagel shop here in Mooresville. It's funny seeing all of us transplants in there on the weekends. The bad thing is the line runs out the darned door since it's so popular. Oh well, we can adapt to get good food.

Anyway, we've been here for four years. After we left NJ, we had homes in Fredericksburg VA, Carroll County MD, and here. Our two favorite places to live are here and our Carroll County MD home. That area is beautiful as well!

That being said, we do have family that moved to NC and then returned to the Jersey shore. So we understand that leaving in NJ isn't for everyone.

To the OP --- Good luck with your planned move. The grass really can be greener!

I don't find it appealing. NJ is one state that still has towns...with Main Streets and tree-lined streets with sidewalks. I miss being able to walk to the corner deli for a coffee and newspaper....not to mention a buttered roll. Some things really are unique to NJ and you can't find them anywhere else.
What part of NJ are you movin 2?

First I moved to Manhattan but that doesn't really count. From there, St. Petersburg, FL. Greatest place in the world - no jobs for me there. After a few years moved to Durham, NC where I am now. It looks like NJ west of the parkway but is much cheaper.
