Why would that stop someone from committing a crime? Just because your neighbor was picked up doesn't mean that he's violent or dangerous. The number of officers at the scene doesn't indicate the severity of the "crime."

I don't think he's violent or dangerous. I am simply curious about what he was arrested for. Holy crow

You don't personally know any of the cops in this safe town that you could ask?

Yeah, it's like there should be some expectation of innocence before being proven guilty in a court of law. Something something 5th, 6th, and 14th Amendments something something.

For all the OP knows, his neighbor had an ex wife who was angry and decided to create some charges about abusing children that the police had to follow up on.

it always bothers me when i see the section in the newspaper regarding what people were arrested for in the local area. these people could be perfectly innocent but will still suffer because their arrest was publicized.

How about the name and address of the person about whom the OP is curious?

It could be anything. I live in a very quiet neighborhood and something similar happened at my neighbor's house.

It turns out the teenage son was hanging out with some "bad" kids. There was a road rage incident and one of the the teens got out of the car and hit someone. Then sped-off to my neighbors house to visit his "friend"; guess they thought in our somewhat rural neighborhood the police would not find his car. WRONG.

The way the police had the place surrounded - uniform and plain clothes guys - and they had guns out at the front door, I thought it was a huge drug bust. It was really just this one kid being arrested, for assault. And it wasn't like he hospitalized the guy, he was actually in the back seat of the cruiser IDing the guy!!

So don't get too worried it is some huge thing - seriously, the huge police response at my neighbor's house you'd think they were going after a serial killer. And I am not saying the PD over-reacted, I am just saying they have a certain way of doing things to keep everyone safe.
