I was reading the other day that people used to capture cardinals and keep them caged, as pets. Back in the early 20th century, this was declared illegal, and now the punishment for capturing and caging a cardinal is up to $15,000 fine and six months in jail.

Have you noticed a decrease in the cardinal population in your neighborhood? I hope they throw the book at him!

He was probably caught cooking meth in a trailer in his back yard while harboring 'El Chapo' in his illegal basement apartment.
