I'm going to be relocating back to NJ soon to be closer to my parents. It's been a long time since I lived in NJ and don't really know the area they are in now that well (Monmouth Beach). I'm looking for sublets within a 20 minute drive from them, so looking there, and the only other areas I'm vaguely familiar with Sea Bright, Red Bank, Atlantic Highlands, etc. I don't know what other areas I should consider but thought I might get some insight here. What other towns should I consider?

I'm 35, recently single, no kids (just pets). I would love to live in an area that's walkable to stuff (restaurants, bars, shops), safe, etc.

I'd have to echo the previous commenters, your best bet is Red Bank.

Thanks for the suggestions. Now the tough part is finding a place that will let me sublet AND accepts pets. I am not having any luck on Craigslist or the apartment finder websites.

Put up your own ad. I have cats. Needed a month-to-month lease while I searched for a condo. I got three offers, took a place in Long Branch for the next nine months.

Long Branch is another option but stay on the West End (south) side.

Shrewsbury Arms in Shrewsbury Township rents to people with pets. 2 miles from Red Bank.

I have to ask, why must it be a sublet? Why not a lease on your own? It rules out a lot of possibilities.

@Mightyqueen801 - Thanks! I hadn't even though of that. When I search pet friendly sublets on Craigslist there are ZERO in the Jersey Shore area which I find unbelievable so I will definitely try that.

Long Branch would be fine but yes, I was curious about what area. I will take a look at Shrewsbury Arms too.

I wondered the same thing.

Also, OP, again in Shrewsbury Township, the Vail Homes co-op complex allows pets. Some owners rent out their units. They have a little yard. Zip is 07724. Don't confuse it with the Borough of Shrewsbury.
