Hi, everyone!
I'm not US citizen and just got stopped by the police on the highway for over speeding
Unfortunatelly, I dont know how the things work with traffic police in NJ and I'd ask for help!
I was driving with foreign driving licence rented car and got stopped by police, the speed limit was 65, I was driving with 100. So the cop checked all documents and got my friend's US licence's address and said they will send some papers to her address which is in other state!
He didn't issue any ticket, he didn't gave me anything... and my friend changed her address years ago so I wont be able to know if they send something!
So my question is- Did they actually issue tickets by sending by mail! Or he just scared us! Do the police need to give me any paper when they stop me?!
Thanks in advance! Im back to my country and really worry about it!

No, he wasn't driving at 100 mph.
According to what the OP stated (below), it appears that he had 100 passengers in his vehicle.
Unless it was an extremely large bus, most likely the worst thing that he could be ticketed for is driving an overloaded vehicle.

I was talking about speed limits- so it was not 100 passengers
So do they need to give the ticket right away or they will send it by mail?!
Im sorry if it sounds as stupid question but Im not familiar with how it works in US.

Honestly they can mail you a ticket but it has to be within a certain time, maybe 30 days? Hopefully if you are away there may be a time period by which they can't do anything about it. A few years on that I think.

Driving 100 in a 65?

Too bad you didn't get arrested.

That is just one more part of the public's perception that is...wrong.
The famous Autobahns have speed limits on over 50% of their mileage.
