Help!

It seems I have picked the absolute worst day to fly out of LGA next week (9/24), since the Pope will be arriving that evening. My flight is at 1:30pm. I've never been to LGA, as I usually fly out of EWR.

What are my options to get to the airport? I am thinking that a cab/the shuttle is out of the question because of road closures. I'm in Rutherford, and will likely take the train into Penn Station.

Google maps tells me to take the E or the LIRR to Roosevelt Avenue and hop on a bus -- can I grab an Uber from there instead? I'm going to be schlepping quite a bit of luggage. I know I have a week to plan this out, I'm just in freak out mode.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

If you can swing it, might be worth finding the cheapest hotel near LGA and just staying there the night before.

1:30p flight, I would still take the "normal" shuttle you would have taken. Just plan for extra time due to extra traffic.

He does not fly into JFK till later in the afternoon,

The only road closures around JFK will be rolling blockades as he goes down hi-way from JFK to Manhattan.

Streets in Manhattan will be closed around St. Patrick’s but won't affect you.

I think the UN General Assembly is happening at the same time, so could add to traffic issues.

JFK area will be a mess for UN arrivals (More then the normal JFK Mess) but LGA should be ok, Just extra Time, Traffic.

EWR also, UN traffic also goes into there, But most will go into JFK.

Thanks so much for the replies! I was planning to get into Penn Sation around 9am, and then take the shuttle to LGA. They say it takes an hour -- so I'm figuring at least two. That should leave me enough time, I think?

A hotel around LGA isn't an option unfortunately, I have clients to train early in the morning.

Once you get into the city take an Uber. It will almost certainly be cheaper than taking a cab, and there is nothing worse than taking a bus in NYC.

The shuttle is only $13 from penn to LGA. It's a little private shuttle bus.

Why would you take Uber from Manhattan of all places when the trains are right there?

I booked a flight out of LGA for April 1st. Just take the E to Roosevelt and switch to the Q70 bus which is an express to LGA. It has luggage racks, but if you really got a boatload of luggage then take a uber/cab from the Roosevelt subway stop. There's also shuttle van service from Penn Station: http://www.nycairporter.com/Schedule...LaGuardia.aspx
