I have an opportunity to move to the Egg Harbor area and was wondering if there someone could provide some information or recommendations of places to live. Thanks in advance.

Where are you coming from? Up state NY. Syracuse area
Why are you moving? Job
Where will you be working ? Atlantic city airport

Will you buy or rent? looking to buy
What is your budget ? A mortgage with taxes included around 1,800.
What kind of place are you looking for ? House with a yard for an active dog

Will anyone (spouse, children, pets) be moving with you ? Spouse, Dog
Do you need/want good public schools? Schools are not important

Briefly describe the kind of neighborhood you'd like to live in. Active community with food and drinking establishments.

List three things that are important to you in order of importance. Saftey, restaurants and places for a dog

Galloway, Absecon, and Egg Harbor Township itself would all fit the bill for you. Generally safe middle-class towns with decent options for restaurants and bars. However, the whole area in between the Philly suburbs and the shore is pretty rural and spread out, so if you are looking for more of a downtown-type scene close to the airport, you will not find it (Smithville kind of fits the bill but is really more of a tourist-type place). If you want a more urban kind of atmosphere, Hammonton is your best bet. Great downtown and they have plenty of festivals around the year. From the airport, it is maybe a 30 minute drive, so a little further than the places mentioned above but still not terrible. Other than that, you can actually try living in one of the shore towns in Atlantic County year-round. It would probably get pricier though in the summer season, and I imagine it's kind of sleepy outside of that summer season. But Margate would be a good choice if you are okay with that. Somers Point would be a decent choice as well.
