My husband and I are interested in a house but it is about 300 feet away from high tension wires. Although an eyesore, we are willing to be ok with them since the house itself is great, but I feel uneasy about the EMF levels near the house. I called the JCPL and they said they do not conduct EMF reading for customers and that I need to contact an engineering company to do that. Would you have any recommendation for a reputable company who would do an EMF testing? I saw some testers on amazon but wasn't sure if they would be accurate enough.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Only person I know is a professional engineering company Richard Tell. They might give you advice, I don't know if you could afford them to actually come over.

Also there are numerous newsgroups and such on the subject.

Richard Tell is at RadHaz.com 702-346-5550 - Richard Tell Associates, Inc.

I'd look somewhere else if you could. THink about resale. No one wants to live by those wires either unless they have to.

Thank you for your replies! We ultimately decided not to pursue the home.

I think it's a good idea to get an accurate reading also. The energy near your house is important. It can cause all kinds of things to set off- sickness, weird activity, depression, and cause your in house devices to malfunction. Do not buy it from amazon! You can try www.lessemf.com it's a specialty catalog that will probably have better quality products.

This interesting item was linked from that site:

For people worried about all those evil, dangerous electric motors I assume.

Default EMF EMR RF Risk Exposure Reporting

EMF EMR and RF risk exposure assessments are very very complex at many levels. You might want to check out www.sepctralanalyticalsciences.com as there is much information on that site that will answer many of your questions. They also perform such studies and provide reports for technical, medical, legal and other purposes being in this field for over 40 years. You may wish to call them for an initial consultation.

You wouldn't happen to have any financial ties to that company, would you?
