My husband and I are considering moving there from the Upper West Side of Manhattan, just to have a bit more space. He skates frequently in Central Park, and will only move if Hoboken has decent rollerblading options (smooth, preferably not too a small loop, etc). I did some searching but have only seen cycling routes, and I'm not sure if they're conducive to roller blading. Any info? Thanks in advance...

Haven't lived up there for years, so don't recall if Hoboken allows rollerblading on the boardwalk.

There is Liberty State Park in Jersey City:

Department of Environmental Protection

"Liberty State Park offers a variety of recreational uses. Take advantage of the miles of walkways by walking, jogging, biking, or rollerblading."

You can get from Hoboken to Liberty State Park on the Light Rail:

New Jersey Transit

NJ isn't great for rollerblading. But from Hoboken, the West Side Greenway is only a PATH ride away.

I think there is a long pathway from Jersey city to hoboken along the water that would work.

The whole point and advantage of inline skates is that you can use them on regular pedestrian sidewalks, or local roads, and you can go into stores.

Thanks for the replies, everyone--I'll check out the options above.

NJ Brazen--I'm afraid I'm not confident enough to subject motorists to my own skating...

But you are missing out. It allows you to get to and from main streets, and into stores very quickly. No need to disembark, park your bike or what not.
