Hi everybody ,
I live in Edison .
me and my husband work in Edison .
LOVE the schools , we rent , 2 bedrooms $1550 a month .
I am thinking of buying a house , but her ? in Edison ?
for me to get a house ,it has to be not old , minimum 20 years old .
no more than 20 minutes driving from and to work .
I prefer North edison ,better schools .
3 bedrooms ,2 bathrooms ,and a basement or a loft .
with all these restrictions I can't find a house less than %385000 .
so we will face the down payment which is %5 at least ,
and with that rent ,not much savings .
I don't like single family homes ,
for some reason ,I don't think it's a safe area for my kids .
I believe that developments like condos and townhomes are much convenient for kids .
some friends suggested that I can move to sayreville or any surroundings towns
I can't find any with all those restrictions I captured myself in .
I can't transfer my kids to bad schools , old house , nor far from work .
I searched some homes in East Brunswick ,since they have good schools ,
I didn't like the homes, most are old ,rooms are little ,and I hate Route 1 .
I searched some in Princeton and West Windsor ,LOVED it ,but they are expensive and again ,Route 1 .
any ideas other than being patient .

Here is an option, Piscatawaytown. The only section in Edison with riverfront property.

Piscatawaytown Burial Ground ,
WELL , for me it's not an issue .everyone is going there or to a similar place one day .
I am preparing myself very well for that day .and to be honest it doesn't matter where I will be buried
what matters is what I have done in my life , and how my other life will be ?
thank you for reminding me , that life is so short .

You misunderstood my post. Piscatawaytown is a small section of Edison Twp also was known as Nixon and might still be. I attended Piscatawaytown school for wood shop class in 7th grade back in the late 50's. Piscatawaytown was probably one of the earliest named section of Edison Twp. It can seem strange being named Piscatawaytown when next door in Piscataway Twp. there is no Piscatawaytown.
Yes they do have a cemetery named after that section.
FYI there is a Stelton section of Edison Twp but North Stelton is in Piscataway Twp.
Historical timeline of Edison Twp.
Edison Historical Timeline, bull 1651 A large tract of land from the Raritan River to the Passaic, including what is now Edison Township, was deeded by the Dutch King to Augustine Herrmanns, a Dutch settler
