Does anyone have any information as far as safety? Good shopping? Decent areas?

Wallington was just reassessed with houses highly overvalued. Property taxes are expected to rise substantially. For sale signs are seen popping up all over town. Things will only get worse due to the state being bankrupt.

I can tell you this I grew up in Wallington an dloved it. What it's like now I can't say but back then it was lot;s of bars, small deli's, and very Polish. The worst thing to happen was to allow James Knuckle to build apartments in Mt. Pleasant Village up the hill and then Jason town on the dumps, down the hill. '

If you're looking for a house I suggest single family houses "up the hill" or as it used to be called mortgage hill by those living down the hill because you couldn't collect rent to pay the mortgage like their multi-family homes. The "flower streets" off of Mt. Pleasant Ave are nice. The streets are all named after flowers like Lilac Lane. Some homes back up to a large county park. People have been dumping a lot, a real lot of money into renovating their homes over the past several years, it needed it, but it really shows well. Go hang out in some bars and restaurants you'll get the flavor and talk to people. They love to talk. Polska Mowa.

Ahh, Wallington, my ancestral home. I always think of it as a small Polish village. I have relatives who still live there, and they have never once complained about crime.

It's still very Polish, but alot of the bars are gone (there used to be one on every corner). Same with the little delis. There was a little deli right next to each one of my grandparents' houses when I was a kid--homemade jelly donuts, keilbasa, cold cuts, fresh kaiser rolls. Yum.

Industrial areas?? I've never seen them.

I know people think of it as blue collar, but a lot of the newer Polish immigrants are very well educated.

Check out Wallingtononline.com

Good luck!

I never seen as many pollish people in my life until i looked at an apartment for rent a year ago.. thats all the info i have on it.

I think literally half the town is Pollish. But it's a nice town, i didn't see anything wrong with it crime-wise or shopping wise.

I know a guy from Wallington. It's not a bad town, fairly low crime. It's a fairly nice town, it's just very blue-collar. And yeah, heavily Polish. Used to be mostly Italian i think, but now the Polskis have moved in. that's not a bad thing though, cuz the Polish bring with them some good deli's and butcher shops. it's one of my favorite ethnicities other than my own.

enjoy your kielbasa.
