Can anyone help me with a website that will guve me the different pay steps for an elementary teacher in NJ? Or anyone familiar with the average starting salary?
These are what I would be coming with: I am coming from NYC with a masters in special ed & early childhood and certifications in both. 4 years fulltime experience, 4 years part time. (I do not work in nyc doe).

Thanks!!

There is no one list/website.

Each School District there are 604 in NJ, Will have its own salary chart. They should be on the district website.

Even though the website still looks like it's stuck in 1993, NJ's Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC) website has some recent contracts in its database:

http://www.perc.state.nj.us/publicsectorcontracts.nsf

In addition, a sizable number of districts have links to contracts right on their websites.

In a typical NYC-area 'burb, you're probably looking at $60,000 - $65,000.

Go to app.com (Asbury Park Press) and select "Data Universe").

It has the salaries of all public workers (including teachers) available by town, boro, etc.

In general, the wealthier towns and better school districts pay the most. Inner cities pay the least. I just read something recently that said teachers in West Orange start at 56k and go up to 105k after only 14 years. For comparison, a friend of mine is a teacher in a more blue collar town and makes only about 75k after 15 years.

you can use this site to look at individual school districts and see how much the teachers (and other government employees) are paid in salary:

DataUniverse | The Asbury Park Press NJ | app.com

and we wonder why the teacher's union can't figure out how to evaluate a teacher's performance!
