Hi All,

We are a family of three, with a 5yo daughter. We want to move to Skillman from JC , looking for a more comfortable, quite life . I am a bit anxious though because we want this to be the last relocation, as we Ve had our fair share of those.
1.So , I m wondering if there there is a good hospital , especially with an emergency room. Pediatrician, dentist, though I imagine for the last two I can always go to Princeton or other towns around
2.How is the community ? Welcoming? Distant? Are there plenty of kids or it's an old people town?
3.Schools seem to be very good in terms or ranking, but wonder if kids are generally happy there ....
4.Are there grocery stores around or have to travel to get to one?
5. In case of emergency, fire engine/ ambulance are quickly to respond or it takes a while....
Many thanks to any helpful tips !

I work in Skillman and have a bunch of friends there. Plenty of dentists around though the hospital you want to go to is the big one on Rt 1. Everyone in Princeton/Plainsboro go there (UMCP) and it's really not too far away. Your best bet for a good night out is to go to Princeton which is very diverse in terms of age.

Skillman is a very quiet area with a small town feel. Shoprite is really close for groceries though that may be your only option. There is a gym and lots of car dealerships on 206. Most of the guys I know with families here have kids either in early high school or just graduated college. They said the schools were great. Taxes are still a bit high but it's NJ so....

I have only heard good things about the area: Skillman, Montgomery, Pennington, etc...

Skillman is a very nice area, and I think most people would agree on that. You really should drive around a bit to get a feel for the area to see as far as shopping (furinax described it pretty well) and other things because not everyone's taste or feel would be the same as yours. The only downside to Skillman would be the commute to your job. You didn't mention where you work, but if that works it;s certainly a lovely area.
And yes it will be way quieter than JC.

I have family in Skillman (which is a section of Montgomery Township) and your children will go to Montgomery schools. It's a nice quiet area although it's a bit out there in terms of commute depending where you will be working. If it's NYC, FORGET IT. If it's Princeton and the surrounding area it may be a nice fit.
