Hi! I accepted a job offer in Wayne nj that starts in June and I need to find somewhere to live. I'm not familiar with the area but I want a safe town where I can rent an apartment for 1,500 or less. I'm 22 so I'd prefer some type of downtown area but It's not a deal breaker. I just want a nice one bed room apartment that I feel comfortable in. I could settle for a studio. Thanks!

Montclair(closer) or Morristown would both have reasonable commutes to Wayne, have decent downtowns and apartments within your price range.

or skip the downtown, and live in Wayne itself and enjoy a great commute! Keep that 1 hour+ daily savings for yourself.

Where within Wayne?
Wayne is 27 square miles. During rush hour, it can take a half hour to get from one corner to the other... especially after some heavy rain.

Morristown to wayne would not be bad commute 80/287, if your looking for a hip/young vibe, otherwise wayne is fine, and surrounding area, it's just family type towns, not much nightlife or anything, if you really want a young vibe check out Hoboken, probably not what your looking for but a great place for a young person(also expensive) but a nice plave to visit.

You'd be splitting hairs, Morristown might be slightly more affordable
