OK, I know this sounds like an absolutely crazy thread, but...

I am getting desperate. After my school got ripped off by buying garbage "kid-friendly" headphones at $30 a piece from "Acme School Supply and Robbery Company" that have been smashed to bits within a year, I now find myself in a position of having to find a whole bunch of headphones cheap in time for PARCC testing in a week. I used to be able to find headphones at any dollar store without a problem. But, all of a sudden, it has become impossible to find any over-ear headphones for $1 or anything even close to that.

I have tried a whole bunch of local stores, but they seem to be dying off real quick thanks to the beyond-awful national dollar store chains (yep, tried them too).

Does anyone have any ideas for where I can get some dirt-cheap headphones in the Bergen/Passaic County area? They must be over/on ear headphones, not in-ear ones/earbuds.

Thanks for any help with this crazy request.

Did some Googling & Office Depot has $6. over the ear headphones on their website.
Koss Portable Headphones by Office Depot & OfficeMax

Don't the big office supply stores give teacher discounts?

Try calling Staples or Office Depot & tell them what you want & ask them if they can give you a teacher or school discount.

OK, just found this at the Dollar Tree website:

https://www.dollartree.com/household...?method=search

Site states they are $1, and come 24 by the case.

Don't know if any one Dollar Tree store would have enough for all your students, so just order it at the above website.

Thanks, but I need to spend $1 per pair, $1.50 max, since I need to get at least 50 pair. I don't think they're gonna budge that much. Besides, except for the Koss name, those headphones look a heckuva lot like the ones I used to get for $1 a piece.

Again, thanks, but Dollar Tree, along with the other national chains, blow chunks. I've tried to order those headphones for months. They're always listed as backordered, and they're not available in stores. I actually called them earlier today, and the response was basically, "Keep trying."

Your students need headphones to be able to take this test, but the school does not have the adequate budget to buy the headphones?

What age are these kids? Many may have headphones in their home.

Can't a letter go home to parents asking to send the kids to school with headphones for the day of the test?

Try staples or cvs or Kmart. That's where I usually find mine.

I am trying to understand this - the school needs to supply the earphones? Don't today's teenagers come with earphones permanently attached? Or is it that they need to be specifically not in the ear?

So many questions.

In my day, students were required to BYO everything...from #2 pencils to graphing calculators. If this PARCC testing requires headphones, why can't kids bring their own?

But if the school did order $30 headphones for each kid (cringe)...how do $30 headphones get smashed to bits within a year? Even if they ARE garbage quality? What are these kids doing with these headphones?

Anyways, you're probably not going to have any luck with local stores...even the big box ones...if you are talking about a quantity of at least 50, at below $1.50 a piece. Google "BULK DISPOSABLE HEADPHONES":

Amazon.com: Encore ENC-06 Stereo Headphones Bulk Disposable 50 Pc. Pack: Electronics

Amazon.com: Pack of 50 Quantity - Better Quality Disposable Stereo Headphone (H4, Gold Plated Plug) by BUYEXTRAS: Electronics

You're probably not thrilled at the 'DISPOSABLE' part, but that's what you're gonna get for <$1.50. But really, though, they shouldn't break that easily.

Maybe this reply will sound crazier than your initial thread, but hey... ya neva know!

Although not "over the ear", the earbuds I use at the gym were free promotionals from Heineken. They work great! Yup... got them at the store from the beer delivery guy.

Give them a call. They may provide and/or foot the bill for whatever you need.
