Any thoughts on best way to commute from Jersey Shore to NYC? I need to be in NYC around 2:00 pm a few times a week -until 1:00 am . I wonder if HarrisonPath park and ride is a safe and inexpensive way to go. Thanx!

I have always felt safe in Harrison, going back decades to the days when you could park under the train trestle for free, not that I would try that for fear of getting towed but there is that new garage in the past few years. You could also park closer to where you are and train it in, you'd have to check scheds for trains and buses. I see a lot of folks catching a bus from the GSP Cheesequake lots and others too.

With PATH you usually don't have to worry about a last train out at least.

Assuming you have a convenient place to park in NYC, I agree with Jersey Man.

The Jersey Shore is 120 miles long. Where is your beginning point for the commute?

Express commuter buses to NYC run regularly from
• Toms River Park and Ride with 1:35 ride time.
• Atlantic City with 2:35 ride time.
But the ride home in the wee morning hours will take forever. Some routes are "locals".

The express buses aren't going to help with the OP's work hours. S/he really is better off driving into the city.

Driving to Harrison and using PATH is an option too, but PATH runs once every 40 minutes during the overnight hours, so if you don't hit the train at the right time, you could be spending a lot of time admiring the white marble platforms at the WTC PATH station. And I've been stuck a couple of times late at night because they do all of the Hackensack River bridge openings during the overnight hours, and the bridge often gets stuck in the open position. I've lost an hour or more of my life when this has happened.

I'm a huge transit advocate, but it makes more sense to drive.
