I grew up in Westfield and graduated WHS in 2010. I can only speak to Westfield, but I would honestly recommend it over any other town. Yes, I am biased..but since graduating high school I have lived in a lot of different places in NJ. Westfield surpasses them all. I've only ever been educated in the Westfield Public Schools but I have extremely positive memories of my youth. We always had great resources, new computers, quality teachers, bullying wasn't an issue ever. Most kids I knew were involved in youth sports and continued on through high school. There are more pros than just the school system in Westfield...but since you asked about education here it is..

Our teachers never let us forget how fortunate we were to be given an excellent education...and it's true. I never realized until I went to college how thoroughly prepared I was. My teachers in high school prepared me very well. Pretty much everyone in my graduating class went to a 4 year school. Maybe this says more about the money of their parents than actual achievement ..but most people go out of state for college. Syracuse, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Penn State, U of Delaware, Michigan, Indiana come to mind. I guess when you grow up in such an environment of achievement...you naturally just want to do great things. I'm sure this can make people feel pressured etc...but like I said we were prepared and support/tutoring..are all available if you need it. I was a very average student but still did well and went on to BU.

I'll also say that growing up in Westfield is sort of like growing up in a "bubble". You aren't naturally exposed to certain things until you leave.

That sucks. You made it sound so awesome but to find out that kids only went on to Notre Dame, WF etc is kind of disappointing. If you said instead an Ivy or Stanford, University of Chicago, MIT, Duke, Cal Tech, Johns Hopkins or Northwestern I'd be impressed.
