You could also get to Penn station and take the NJ Transit trains, it cost more money but it's faster. 33rd St PATH trains take an average of 30mins+ to get to Newark. Yes, I've taken it hundreds of times. The price difference is about $50/month.
That is a tough commute. Keep in mind there is no direct Path service between 33 st and Newark. You have to switch trains in Jersey City, so that just adds to the total commute time. I would say take the 7 or LIRR to Penn and then take NJ Transit to Newark.

In most cases it doesn't add more than 2-3 minutes. It is not even worth mentioning when the overall commute is 45+ minutes.
