I'm looking for a place to stay for the summer in the vicinity of Eatontown (places that are within a reasonable commute). Which cities would you suggest? I'd greatly appreciate the suggestions because I'm currently in Texas. Thanks a lot!

what's your situation? are you coming for work or play? if for work there are some inexpensive but decent places in the adjacent town, Tinton Falls, on hope road if you want to mapquest it.
if you want to go a bit upscale there is a Sheraton in eatontown itself. Eatontown is near the shore and summer is "the season" so anything near the shore will be expensive.

Are you thinking long-term? 2 summers ago, we stayed in Eatontown at the Holiday Inn at $170 per night. There is a Red-Roof Inn right next door. I think I was quoted $69 per night or something but it was skanky. The non-smoking room had an ash-tray in it and reeked of ciggie smoke. Hence, why we ended up staying at the Holiday Inn.

There is also a Staybridge Suites on Industrial Road off of Rt. 35. That's all I can think of for now.

Can you provided more detailed information about your needs and requirements?

For instance: You said something about an easy commute. To where? People commute to all different places, just not New York.

Ok...Shanny on standby

Thanks a million for your replies! I'm a graduate student, and I'll be working as an intern in a firm in Eatontown. I'm a bit short on cash (can spend ~600 a month). I'll need to work at the office, so a commute via NJ Transit (bus or rail) is probably the best I can hope for. So, to sum it up, I'm looking for an apartment or a paying guest or a hostel that is open to female students from mid-May to end-July. Any suggestions will be great! Really grateful for your help!

I would not count on NJTransit. There are no trains to Eatontown and the buses tend to be infrequent and only run along major highways (35 and 36). I would invest in a cheap used car. It is really vital to have. You should be able to find a place in Eatontown, Tinton Falls or Red Bank. You also might want to see if Monmouth Univ in West Long Branch offers any kind of summer housing.

thanks! The Monmouth University tip is a lead that I'll follow up on. Any suggestions on how to find vacancies in Tinton Falls? Thanks a million to you all!
