I've been in Union for 15 years now. Have never experienced any crimes, or anything unsafe. It's a pretty safe township, excluding Vauxhall, which isn't even that bad. I lice in the Orchard Park neighborhood (one of the nicest neighborhoods in the town). Pretty much everywhere in Union is safe, and I can see you are buying a house in the Hannah Caldwell area, which is home to beautiful apartments, and houses. Best of luck to you, and enjoy the area!

Bought a house zoned last year in Union (zoned in Washington). I too was living in NY and pulled the trigger on buying a house in Union. No regrets here. If you can find a house near Colonial Avenue area (Putnam Section). I took take the 114 bus. Any specific questions feel free to ask.

Thanks unfortunately they did not accept my offer. But I did get my offer accepted nearby about six minutes away. And this time the zoned school is Washington.

I am blocks away from there. The 114 bus is the bus that goes straight to port authority but its a long walk. So according to google maps I have to take the 94 to the 114. My wife works on union sq 14th st so she will be taking the bus to Roselle Park and then the train from Roselle Park to Newark and then taking the Path to 14th st this is cheapest way so far. We will be getting a car soon after closing I might drive to Newark and park. I did see a shuttle bus when I was on route 22 those buses do stop in front of my job but I am not sure if these particular ones go to Manhattan. I will need to ask when I get to work. If anyone knows a better option please help thanks

Also how is the 114 bus in the morning to port authority? Or any other bus do the buses have their own lane to get into the city? I've noticed when we get to the tunnel it takes a while to get in. This has been my experience getting back to the city in the afternoon after 5pm for my two trips out there. Just wondering if its the same in the morning. Took us about 1hr 15 min in traffic to get to the port authority NYC

Good luck on closing. You will Definitely want a car once you move here. Bought a used one at a place on Morris avenue.

I work midtown and was toggling between the 114 bus and nj transit train from Union. I now prefer to just take the 114 bus to port auth which generally takes about 45 mins. Add another 20 from port to my job. There is an "XBL" exclusive bus lane going to Lincoln tunnel so that definitely helps with traffic. The train is also an option for you though you will have to make a transfer from Newark penn to ny penn. You should try different options and see what works best for you. There is also a 114x (express) that runs on 22 and bypasses all the local traffic in Union and hillside. Again that could be an option for you.

Note I've lived in Manhattan and queens so when I moved here I had to consider how much commute time it's adding. It hasn't been unbearable at all. In fact I find it peaceful just watching movies or reading on the bus. As far as nightlife if you decide to make it a late night in the city pull pic transportation back home is limited and may to uber or lyft quite a bit.

Send me a private message if you need more info.
