Not sure if this goes here or not, but feel free to move. I've been living a multiunit apartment building for a little over two years. Most of the time, I really only slept here as I worked long hours and had a long commute. Now, I'm unemployed and spending more time at home. Everyday since Monday, the fire alarm goes off and it lasts anywhere from 5-30 minutes. On Monday, I left my apartment and other people were outside (but not a lot, because I guess people were at work), no fire trucks or any thing came. We assumed it was safe and went in. Tuesday, it happened for five minutes. Wednesday, was about 20, I came outside. Again no one came. Thursday, very short. Today, it was low but smelt like burning. I didn't see any smoke and no one else was outside. Why is this happening? Also, why is no one coming?

Shouldn't you be asking your landlord or apartment manager? If you smell smoke then you should probably be calling 911.

I would contact the local town fire inspector, he would be interested in figuring out what is going on. Should be easy to do, I think every town has one.

The smell stopped. I think it was burnt food. The super was called Monday and it's still happening. I think I'm going to call the fire inspector as another poster said.
