We are relocating to NJ. Husband will be working in Wayne and myself possibly in Morristown. We liked W. Milford. Any thoughts about the community, schools, shopping?

I like the West Milford area - there was another thread in here a while back with the same questions... maybe see if you can find that one? A few people said KKK in West Milford but I've never heard of one being there. If you go up to Search This Thread - type in West Milford, any Thread related to that topic will come up.

Commute is tough. I feel isolated anywhere past Kinnelon. Not much commerce in West Milford.

Pompton Plains is very nice. Very close to
Wayne and 15 -20 minutes from Morristown.
East Hanover/Whippany is nice too Excellant schools.
Good Luck

I have lived in West Milford for 20 years. I love it here-it is a very large town with that hometown feel. The home prices are great compared to other towns. Taxes are higher but you pay for the privacy.
Let me know if I can help you.

West Milford is decent. Taxes are high, and there is not too much shopping locally. You either have to drive into the center of town, or jump on 23 and go down towards Butler or Kinnelon. Really it's not that big of a deal. Keep in mind West Milford is a huge town. If you live on top of the mountain near Greenwood Lake and you work anywhere near Bergen county it might make your communte hellish. If you live in the lower half you should be good.

Default W Milford

Worked there for a few years. Nice town and people. Hiking, hunting, fishing, skiing, etc abound. Paradise if you are a sportsman. Newark watershed issues permits for hiking and fishing trophy waters used as drinking water supply for east Jersey. Monksville? reservior, Greenwood lake, norvin Green state forest, turtle pond? wildlife management area.

Great Carvel ice cream on Marshall Hill rd.

Good density of black bears.

West milford might be considered the snow belt of NJ. If snow faals in Nj it will be in WM.

Easy access to rt 23 Butler and Kinnelon for shopping not found in W Milford mall.

Back road access to rts 287, 80, 46.

No problem going to Wayne or Morristown. good as a NJ commute can be.
