My hubby got project in NYC (Wall street). I have a 3 yrs old kid who is currently enrolled in ECE program in Texas. I would like to know some locations in nj with reasonable renting options which will be easy for my husband to commute daily and which has good schooling options.
Assuming your child is not special needs, be aware that most public preschools are in towns that are Abbott districts, basically meaning poor. Preschool costs may even exceed rent for some families in nj. You may get lucky by lottery to get into a public pre-k that is lower cost but I wouldn't count on it. Not sure what the going rate is now but I would guess it probably close to 1500 a month. Someone here may have more recent experience shopping around and there may be less expensive/ high quality alternatives.
Pre- k is free in NYC so consider Brooklyn which is an easy commute to wall st.
Hopefully someone who knows more than me about the public preschool situation can chime in. Be aware that it also changes depending on town's budget and space availability for the program.
ECE is Early Childhood Education program specially to enhance his social and behavioural developments.
I'm looking for apartments with rent ranging from $1500 to $1700.
I know its not possible for him to take car daily. Looking for direct bus/ train route options. Hope am clear.
If you are looking for a 2 bedroom in that range than Journal Square (a neighborhood in Jersey City) might be an option that meets the easy commute criteria. Finding great schools with that budget is not likely.

Thank you for your response. ECE program which he got enrolled comes under special needs school. I have no idea how this ECE transfer works. Upon enquiry, the school said they will forward his TC and other required docs to us. Using this we can enroll him in any public pre-K i guess.
I am moving with my young family to NY in November (mostly), would be working around WTC. We have a two and half yr old kid. Looking for some guidance here
1. What is a good way of looking for an apartment. Once I am there, should I stay in a hotel and do the house hunting in parallel. What are some alternatives or good options.
2. Like to know some locations in nj with reasonable renting options (less than $2400) which will be make my daily commute easier and has a good hustle bustle about it.
