Delorenzos, affectionately known as 'De Lo's'
from my hometown Trenton, NJ...
yay!

De-Lo's moved out of downtown Trenton (Chambersburg section) to the 'burbs ( Robbinsville ) where it was located since the 1930's.
Same family still runs it..

The pizza has not suffered in quality and has taken the coveted first place..up from #4 last year.

No Arturo's in Maplewood? That's a pizza snub if I've ever seen one. Good overall list though.

You know what place beat them all? Bricks. They were a mini chain (about 6 stores at their peak) in North Jersey, and they had amazing brick oven pizza that didn't char the crust into dust. They were all gone by 2008. I'll never understand why. It was truly the best pizza I ever had.

Try the Linwood Inn in Linden. Or Emma's in Cranford. Their weekly pesto square special is amazing.

While on vacation to a different coast, I have discovered that after Pizza in NJ/NYC, Pizza in some other states is neither really Pizza or edible.

My hometown is also Trenton. I spent a lot of time eating their pizza! Delicious! I called them 'tomato pies', though.

Never been there, but just the name Pizza-Town USA repulses me. Am I the only one who thinks it sounds like the name of some bad pizza place in rural Kentucky?

+1
While pizza outside of the NYC/NJ/CT area tends to be very bad in general, the absolute worst pizza that I ever ate was in the town of Holland, Michigan. It was a heavy, wet mass of undercooked dough, covered with...God only knows what type of tasteless cheese, and it was so heavy that I had a hard time staying awake after eating it. I only ate it because I was very hungry, but at least that episode taught me to avoid pizza in the central part of The US.

I know a woman who grew up in Missouri before moving to NJ, and she described Missouri pizza as being like saltines covered with ketchup and Cheese Whiz. So, in addition to the left coast, I would also advise avoiding pizza anywhere in the middle of the country.
