park ave is nice, also Weehawken across street, and blvd east with the best view of manhatten you can find.

So, the problem now is that my partner is a taxi driver so we will be using the car to commute to Manhattan. Toll is $15 and $7 if we drive with more people. Will this work out?

Is this new information for you? Were you unaware that there was a toll or that your partner is a taxi driver?

If you commute to the city together then I suppose you won't have to buy a bus pass, but $15 a day does at up if you're paying it daily. And you're right, having 3 or more people in the car will get you a carpool discount but it may not be wise to pick up random strangers.

What's the cost of the bridge from the Bronx right now? Any why not just move further out in the Bronx?

$15 toll from NJ to NY. I work in Downtown Manhattan. Yes, further out in the Bronx would be another consideration. Thanks Jaymoney.

We are going to see an apt this week at carteret Nj. The apt is in a complex with security and parking. The commute is easy to NYC. But is carteret a safe place to live in?

Yes, it is safe, but the most appropriate word to describe that smelly industrial town would probably be...dreary.

No, the cost of their current commute from the Bronx to Manhattan?

Have you also considered the Ironbound section of Newark? Or, Harrison? There are properties close to the PATH train that will get you into downtown Manhattan in 18 minutes (from Harrison PATH train) and 22 minutes (from Newark Penn Station). However, you may need to increase your budget a bit.

I would search for rentals in Ironbound/Harrison and even see if there are any private rentals (i.e., people who own investment properties and are looking to rent them out). The apartment complexes in this area (even downtown Newark) start at about $1700-$1800 for a studio. But, there are some private rentals that are less expensive.
