We're newly married stuck between GenY & GenX. We don't want to move out of NJ, it's great here... so while maybe not up & coming, where's the place to for us to set up a great nest? We're looking at buying a home so that we're not doing many moves, i.e. condo/apt. since we don't have kids yet, but when we do have kids, it'll be a friendly place.
.... for example purposes:
in 2-5 years 1-2 kids (2010-2013)
they're starting school (2015-2018)

We'd like a house & enough yard just big enough for a swing set, preferably the old metal kind with the teeter-totter, not that wooden clunky stuff out now. The places where our grandparents lived seemed great but have gone downhill.

Any advice?

Warren County kids : )) Very inexpensive and it's the only place left for the folks from Morris County east to migrate to in the future when those areas truly become too expensive even for them : )) Try hackettstown, hope, blairstown, independence - all the areas near Rt. 80. I think you will find it's what you are looking for - very young and it can only get better 10 years from now.

Hi Ipod, Depending on your income and location of your job, Somerset county is a pretty good start. A great area is Farhills but a little to pricey if your starting off. Another would be Basking Ridge, which is a great town with alot to offer with outstanding school system. This area has many different price range area's. Bernardsville is also good with alot of history. Very good school's and both towns are very involved with acidemics and sports which might be good in the future. Lot's of luck

Very tue Wiley, Warren county is still a good start, but i'm afraid for the young love birds they would want to stay away from RT.80. But that's the sacrifice we make when we start.

Hey pops : ))) How youuuuu doin'! No to Rt. 80? Route 78...Rt. 206 are getting to be just as bad these days... This is the next county to POP! Hunterdon is too rich for the young love birds. Mark my words, and I will find you in 10 years from now to collect my bet, this will be "THE COUNTY". : ))))

Somewhere between Somerset County and Warren County lies Hunterdon. Along the Route 78/22 corridor makes any commute convienient. There are quaint towns and more modern condos and townhomes. Places like Clinton, Annandale, Lebanon or Whitehouse and Branchburg may all be worth considering.

Sorry..41? You're younger than me!!!!!!!!!! Guess that makes me "mame" then..lol : )) Ok, I'm willing to go a whole buck..you? Even though, 10 years from now when the Middle East takes over, and gas prices exceed 62.00/gallon and a buck won't be worth squat! .. I'll still make that bet!
