Hi

I will be moving to Edison NJ from India in April'08. I intend to rent 3br townhouse in a good locality. I saw a few a couple of weeks back. I have zeroed on Rivendell Heights, Piscataway, Edison Woods and Edison Glen. Can I get some idea about these societies regarding safety, walk to train station, groceries, managemnet and maintenance.

Is there any good ones which I am missing. I need them walk to train station and groceries. Thanks

What is your budget? How much do you intend to spend on rent every month?

edison is a nice town with lots of asians south asians, and whites

You will need a car, NJ is car culture. Traffic is bad everywhere in NJ, but the strip malls, and downtowns are just a short drive away, so you will get everything you need
there.

Just please make sure you are moving legally

You will likely NOT get a 3 bedroom townhome for that amount. A 1 or 2 bedroom apartment is more within that budget range. And you will need a car unless you live very close to your place of work or right by public transportation that will get you there.

She's renting, not buying. I definitely think she can rent a 2-bedroom townhouse in Edison for under $2,000, and I wouldn't be surprised if she could rent a 3-bedroom for that amount, as well. Edison isn't that expensive.

I DO understand that the OP is renting and not buying, but I don't think he'll find a three bedroom apartment in Edison for that amount.

I'm sure they'll be coming legally.. many professional jobs are outsource to India and they come with H1 visas for a few years with salary ranges from 50k - 90k, all sponsored by our great global companies.. to be able to pay a 1500-2000 dollar rent this has to be the situation.. other indians that come illegally normally rent a room and stack up 5-8 in one apt..

BTW i know many indians..

My last apartment in Edison (nothing fancy-very middle-lowermiddle class) was $1500/month for 2 bedrooms. We looked at renting a townhouse or a small 2 bedroom house and all were over 2k.
