relocating to montclair (buses, train, subway)

I work in lower Manhattan near Criminal, Supreme, and Family Courts. Are there any direct buses from Montclair to that area?

Yes, the 66 Decamp, I believe, I may be wrong about the number, but I did take that bus to and fro, many, many times. There is a train as well, so you will certainly not be bereft of public transportation from Montclair to the city.

I believe the op wants to go directly downtown via bus from montclair. Take a bus or train from Montclair, then take a subway downtown.

There is a very early morning Decamp bus (only runs once a day) that goes somewhere downtown - near Wallstreet I think.
