Did a whole new loop of driving yesterday and boy discovered a whole new world!! Started on Green Pond ROad, and let me say the actually green pond and homes are just great this is an undiscovered little gem. Old guy told me this is the best kept secret in NJ, he may just be right!! Then went thru the Arsenal , really cool. WEnt down Route 15 to 80 and got off at Mount Tabor Route 53, cool old ginger bread historical homes really cool old little hilly area. Reminds me of a Piermont or Nyack NY without the shopping. Then continued to Morristown , now this is city has a Boston feel. THen went down COlumbia Turnpike and saw the NOrmandy Hills section, great mansions then to Florham Park, eat the most spicest chinese food ever , blew my ass and taste buds out, then went to Kings, enjoyed the day THERE IS SO MANY PLACES NICER, more spread out, than Bergen COunty. THis is all I knew , I thought I would have to go upstate to get woods, not true! THen came home to my great little house, all decked out on Holland MOuntain, what more could one ask for on a SUNDAY!!!

The only net positive's about jersey are going down the shore and the pizza. Other than that, jersey government is terrible.

Marilyn,

When you lived in Bergen County, you never made it over to Morris or any other Northern NJ counties? I am glad you 'discovered' an alternate world so close to your former residence. It's amazing to me how different Bergen County seems to be from the other 19 counties (omitting Hudson on purpose, because that one is REALLY different) in NJ, in terms of atmosphere. To me, Bergen County is hardly representative of the remainder of NJ. Bergen County = Southern Rockland County NY and has way more in common with lower NY state than most of NJ.

Actually I have lived most of my life in Morris County , now I am in Sussex and I dont know anything about Bergen County, so it would be a discovery for me to drive throught that part of NJ!

Yes I always headed up state NY due to location to ROute 17 in NOrthern Bergen COunty so I did not discover at all Morris especially the Highlands. I always considered the woods in NJ to be lets say non existent and went to the Catskills or ADKS to hike. So its a real treat to see how much more spread out Morris is. I am still suffering over China CHalets spicey food. I asked for the chinese menu, so its like (skip it) you get the point, run run run!!!!!

I love China Chalet. I used to eat there all the time when I worked in Morris Twp. One of my co-workers spoke Mandarin and was able to order "special" stuff for us. Very spicy, very good!!!
