Bill - very helpful. I am searching web sites all the time, but not ready to start visiting yet. Need to come to conclusion if we really can afford that area.

You could try the West Essex YMCA on Livingston Ave. for daycare. I know in most areas they are very reasonably priced and although they are not as curriculum based as Kindercare or Goddard they generally have a very good program.

Default Great Daycare for $1k

I just stumbled onto this forum, but I can recommend a preschool. Strawberry Hill Preschool is on Mt. Pleasant Ave. in the Church (but not affiliated, the director is Jewish) next to the Ritz Diner, very near Livingston Town Center. My daughter goes there, & she loves it. The only problem is they don't take many kids less than 2 years old. Also for Essex County, the taxes are very reasonable in Livingston.

My house is going on the market for just under $600K. My tax bill is $9,900. The YMCA has two daycare centers - Peanut Shell and Weekday - one on each side of town. They are very reasonable as day care goes. Also, if you need financial assistance, they will subsidize part of the price. They don't turn anyone down. If you are interested in more information, feel free to email or send me a private message. I will be happy to answer any questions you have about the community and the daycare.

So sad YMCA is also expensive - close to $1,300.. Nanny will probably be cheaper for two kids, but I am just against nanies in general

Tulpan, I understand how you feel about nannies. Friends of mine use an au pair and like that arrangement better. That might be a good option considering the hours you work.

Brookdaleresident,
I heard about this program; people are usually pretty happy about that. The thing is that I am not against nannies, but against "kids sitting at home with one person". My son has been in day care since 3.5 months old (corporate first and then regular). He is different from the same age kids who stay home with Mommy or nanny. Maybe I am eggagerating, but this is just my feelings.
Plus, I do trust my husband, but still do not want to have 20 years girl at home while I am out most of the day and coming home sometimes after midnight.
