Honestly? There are posts in this thread that allude to White supremacy and you're wondering where the hate it? 😒

This is CD. There are always one or two idiots in every thread. The poster I was responding to said "so many" andgry and hateful people. I don't think that was accurate.

The Trump administration is looking to deputize local police forces in breaking up families and deporting people that have been here since they were children. Anyone that supports that kind of behavior is full of hatred and bile. It's well established that the federal government is not allowed to coerce states into doing what they want by threatening unrelated funding, in fact right wing nuts made this argument in the Supreme Court in their zeal to keep health care away from poor people Court holds that states have choice whether to join medicaid expansion - SCOTUSblog

So the question is, why are you angry about this NJ bill, but not the federal government for flouting the law in its vindictive threats? Hmm, real hard to figure out.

I supported our town becoming a sanctuary, and our town's leadership calculated the costs if the federal government really did cut off funding (an illegal action), so we're ready to stand up for our principles.

He answered that question. If you want to harbor illegals, please ask that the bill be sent to you. Pay for their food, housing and medical care.

Families don't have to be broken up. They can all go back to their country of origin.

If you so happen to be in real estate, finance and IT, you see your wage out pace many time the inflation. Of course, all 3 locations have spend hundreds of millions if not billions in lobbying (or bride).
This really isn't true for the majority of people working in finance or tech fields. The bank my husband used to work for wasn't doing well and closed their NY office, so he was out of a job. The job he ended up taking to replace it pays 2/3 what he was making before. Bonuses are either down, or non-existent. While there are a few people at the top making millions (or billions), that's not reality for the greatest portion of people.

As for hateful... I'm so damn sick and tired of this name-calling and attempts at shaming. There is NOTHING hateful about wanting the best for your country, wanting to protect our interests. For those of you who want to help, there are tons of charities that you can give to. Even better, there are organizations where you can go to their countries and help them better their own situation. Instead of pointing fingers, why don't you show everyone else what it means to be loving and lead by example.

No one is asking anyone to pay for their food, housing and medical care. That's a shoddy lie designed to generate contempt for vulnerable people. That last part is so callous and ugly I don't even know how to respond.

Sorry, scapegoating undocumented immigrants is hateful. There is no evidence that detaining and deporting them as ICE is doing now 'best for our country' or 'protecting our interests'. Charities do not stop people from getting deported.

how is that a lie? let's say that you accept someone as a refugee, how much do you want to bet that "refugee" status will basically guarantee all expenses covered by the taxpayer? right now, illegals use a lot of public services. however, they have to play a lot of fraudulent games so its not as much as they would get if they were legal. legalize them and you unleash a flood of people that qualify for all the assistance without worrying about playing games to qualify.

What you're talking about is comprehensive immigration reform, that's not being discussed because hatred from the right has paralyzed congress and rendered it unable to enact any kind of reform. So this is simply about protecting people from deportation.

Why was there no outrage when Obama had 438,000 illegal immigrants deported in 2013?

the only reason you support "comprehensive immigration reform" is because the democrat party believes it will ensure election victories. you can find videos on youtube of all the democrat politicians in the past opposing illegal immigration.

but hey, now you can pretend like you have such a big heart because the party line has changed.

anyway, since now you seem to want to limit your conversation to deportation instead of the goal of "comprehensive immigration reform" then i will address that. deportation isnt necessary. if you make it impossible for people here illegally to work, rent a home, legalize next generation, etc. then most of them will self deport. they are here illegally vs many many people that have come to America legally. if you arent in a place legally, you shouldnt really expect to be allowed to stay.

this isnt high on my list of important issues but it clearly frustrates americans because it is so clear cut but political interests and corruption have prevented appropriate action from being taken.
