4 bedrooms in Bergen for $35OK is only going to be possible if the house is really old and needs lots of work. You might want to look into Passaic or Morris - Bloomingdale, Butler, West Milford... that area.

I am looking for something with a porch, 2 garages, and 4 bedrooms (or more) as the base. I do have young children and am looking to spend $350K as the most.

Ideas?
What are your views on distance (from Paramus) and taxes? These might help us narrow down the search.

Thanks - I fixed the PM functionality. I am still new here! :-)

Also - Is Passaic or Morris within 30 minutes from Paramus....

Yes, most of Passaic county is within 30 min. from Paramus (with the exception of the northern parts of West Milford/Ringwood). As for Morris, I don't think you should look at anything farther than Parsippany.

Has anyone mentioned West Paterson yet? Yeah, I know, it has the name 'Paterson' in it, but it's really not that bad. And it is in close proximity to I-80, and thus Paramus.

Is West Paterson considered a safe area? It's just that its got a bad stereotype, but I really do not know the reality. Are the schools good? Also - I should have mentioned before, but I would like a Jewish neighborhood (Conservative or Reform)

I may be wrong, but I don't think they will be able to find anything in this area with 4 bedrooms for 350k unless is falling down.

100% agree. You can find some good buys in Rockaway or Denville on the lake side.

I was reviewing some information based on the 2007 school report cards, taxes, and location to where I work in Paramus and came up with the following towns:
CliftonPompton PlainsNorth ArlingtonHawthorneWest CaldwellRidgefield ParkHasbrouck HeightsNorthvaleWaldwick

Any ideas or recommendation on this list? I am also looking for a predominant Jewish area....

thoughts?
