I agree, its a few years old, but I'm guessing it's good for reference.
Yeah, the data is from 2005 so while the nominal amounts in 2008 will be different, it's still a good way to gauge which towns are lower and/or higher than others.
passaic county is known to have lower taxes than bergen--if that is any help
i am not sure where you are looking to buy...
The closer to midtown NYC the better (since I work there), and/or a direct bus to Port Authority/42nd Street. I'm open to anything within an hour radius of NYC.

wayne NJ has a few park and rides, will bring you right to 42nd port authorityl in about an hour...
it's in passaic county, wayne has the top public schools in that county and its a well rated town--just watch those flood zones...

Yeah those floods from last year scared me from ever living around there. I prefer high grounds, I've been flooded quite a few times before. But homes in Wayne are out my range, this is my first/starter house. I am not worried about schools much, since I'm single with no children. Any other towns in Passaic County that your recommend?
And I dont mind Passaic (the town), as long as their is a nicer part.
west paterson, totowa and little falls may be better. other places that are still close to the lines are haledon and prospect park. just so you know, there are places in every town in passaic county and surrounding areas that flood. but each town also has a non flood zone.

South river and Sayreville Park and ride to Nyc
Also Iselin/Edison metro park 35 mins to Nyc Penn Station 42St is not far from Nyc penn station. I was there last month and walked to byrant park which is a lot farther then 42st.
