To make it a short story I received a ticket a couple years ago for having an expired license that was about a week overdo. The reason it was expired was because the DMV license system was down for a period of time and I couldn't renew it. The ticket was only $50 so I just paid it instead of wasting my time in court. As it comes out I'm still getting hit with $100 annual surcharges from the state. Anyone ever open up a case in court to fight these surcharges, or the ticket already plead guilty too?

You pleaded guilty so the state owns you. We used to have a requirement that the state not add punishments after commission of the crime, but that was taken away "for the children".

As I remember it, surcharges are only for 3 years or maybe not even 3. I think they are only paid if you have 6 or more points on lilcense as you look back 3 years.
