We are a couple in our 50's in the process of exploring houses to purchase for full year residency in Green Pond, Rockaway county. it is a lake community in NJ. one of us is Jewish, our kids are in college and older. I am a therapist and artist my wife is a college teacher. our daughter is Lesbian. I am wondering if this community will be appropriate for us. Any one is familiar with the culture of this community?
3 hours. I'll bite. I've never heard of it. I don't think you're going to stick out or look weird. There are Jews and lesbians all over the place in NJ. It's a small state.
Funny (to me) story. My son and the kid up the street got a ride to high school from the girl further up the block. When Dad found out about this, he put a stop to that nonsense. He didn't know she was a lesbian and was friends with every kid on the street.
Green Pond is kind of like a slice of heaven up in the mountains, as far as I know. Yet not too far from Rt 23 or Rt 46 / I-80 down below. havent lived there but have visited, I'd expect no problems.

I'd be careful. I've heard they are extreme racists when it comes to therapists.
