I'm planning to move to NJ from Boston with family.Just wanted to know in general how good the schools are in Millburn/Chatham/Livingston.How agood are the neighbourhoods.Any racial discords between communities.

Any preferences, proc and cons of these places welcome. Howz the rent link here.Is housing affordable ?

Please suggest good days cares, like YMCA around Millburn.

I don't know much about Livingston, but Millburn and Chatham schools are top-notch. Millburn is quite competitive, though, and a lot is said about how stressful it can be for kids. Both are very expensive areas. Chatham has a bit of a reputation for snobbishness - at least the borough does. (There's Chatham Borough and Chatham Township.) That should get some dander up, lol.

Chatham and Millburn both have good access to NYC, if that's important to you. They're both beautiful areas. Best bet, if you can swing it, would be to come spend some time in the area.

I'm thinking a bridge may have collapsed somewhere, but I'll play...

NO!!! THE RENT AIN'T CHEAP IN ANY OF THOSE PLACES!!!

Seriously, you picked three of the nicest towns in the state. The schools are great in all three, with Millburn's being the best. None of the towns is particularly diverse, but I wouldn't say there's any "racial discord" in any of them. Livingston is probably the most diverse of the three, Chatham the least so. Livingston is also probably the most affordable of the three towns, but that ain't saying much. It's still very expensive.

Can't recommend any day care for the area, but I can recommend that you bring a big wallet.

I don't know that I would call Livingston diverse. Unless you are talking about the Asian population, which has grown to about 20%-25%. But I think the same is true for Short Hills.

OP, also, Livingston and Short Hills both have large Jewish populations. Chatham, not so much. There may be some cliques, but no racial discord though.

All three towns are at the top of every school ranking list.
