Orange especially the Valley arts district seems to me to be on the comeup. You can definitely find much worse places to live. So if you are comfortable with it then go for it.

When you say Valley Arts district do you mean near the Brick House train station ?

There is no Brick House station (that was a song by the Commodores). The correct name is Brick Church and that is located in East Orange. The station in the Valley Arts District is called Mountain Station, and has very limited service.

To add to the clarifications, Highland Ave is the station in Orange that is close to the Valley Arts District (which us composed of an area of Valley Road that is in both West Orange and Orange). Mountain Station is at the edge of the Montrose Park area of South Orange, admittedly it's not too far from the Valley Arts District, but it's a smaller station that is among single family homes. Both Mountain and Highland Ave stations have less service than others.
