Hi,

Where would you reccomend for a fun getaway on the Jersey shore, that has a diverse mix of people in the towns and attractions? I'm a young (mid 20's) african-american woman with two young children who is planning to bring my family down this summer and want a nice vaction, something in between a retirement village and some of that drunken young-kid craziness that i see happen on MTV when they cover the Jersey shore. Some one reccomended Cape May- what do you suggest. Thank you for your suggestions I can't wait for summer!

Cape May is perfect. The beach is gorgeous, the town charming and Wildwood, for your children, is nearby.

Cape may also has a zoo and Cold Spring village, which had a train you can ride the last I knew.

Summers at the Jersey Shore...I love Long Beach Island - lots of "towns" to choose from - great beaches, good food and relaxed atmosphere. Ventnor is also nice! Never been to Cape May, but family and friends who have love it. I miss the beach!

This is perfect Thanks

Next question:
How much would a weekend rental be? Something like a thursday-monday rental? Any info would be terrific!

rentals commonly run sat-sat, costs depends on a few factors like the town, proximity to the beach, size of the house are the major things that drive costs.
low end would be around $1500, high end 3k to sky is the limit, I seen places in Spring Lake or on LBI go for 10k a week

Like anything else, you pay for what you get. Ocean front, new, large, commands big bucks. Anything low end price wise either is in a poor location, is very dated or dirty. I agree most rentals run Sat-Sat, but you might find an owner more flexible in June. June generally has lovely weather, low humidity, less crowds, but colder water. But you never can tell, last year the third week of June had some of the best water of the summer. I agree Long Beach Island, in particular Beach Haven has a lot to offer families. Some hotel/motels also have suites or efficiencies with more flexability as to the number of days the rental runs.

Some towns you might like to try are Point Pleasant and Seaside Heights. Both areas have a lot to do. If you really want to go for a nice drive and beautiful area try Long Beach Island (LBI). LBI is by far the best choice if you really want a nice beach experience.
