My mother it moving to Korea and leaving her car, the car isn't paid off but only needs a couple months before it is. If I pay off the car will I get the title? And is it possible to have the title put in my name if she is over in Korea?

I would think so. You would need the title released once it's paid off, then she would transfer that title to you. At that time you could register and get new license plates.

Getting the title cleared from whomever holds the loan would be the first move.

Easiest option is probably for her/you to just pay off the loan right away and then once she has title, sign it over to you before leaving for Korea. Probably easier than doing it once she's remote

She will have to physically sign the title to you, and then you will need to apply for a new title to be in your name. Dont forget there is sales tax.

There is sales tax BUT if the item is a gift you can claim that when you fill out the form and pay NO, ZERO, sales tax. I recently gave my stepdaughter a car and as a gift there was no sales tax in NJ.
